Privacy Policy

Private by design. No data sales. No in-app tracking.

At a glance

The short version — how CheqMate handles your data.

  • We do not collect or sell personal data.
  • We do not store your budgeting data on our servers.
  • Your plan lives on your devices and (optionally) your iCloud.
  • No ads, no in-app tracking SDKs.
  • Bank sync is optional and handled by Plaid; we never see your credentials.
  • This website uses anonymous, cookie-free analytics only.

What we collect

CheqMate is designed for on-device privacy.

  • On your device: your budgeting data, including bills, pay schedules, income settings, paid status, and appearance/preferences.
  • iCloud (optional): if you enable iCloud sync, Apple stores an encrypted copy of your data in your personal iCloud account so CheqMate can stay in sync across your devices.
  • Notifications: local bill reminders scheduled on your device using stable identifiers; no remote payloads.
  • Backups/exports (optional): JSON backups you create yourself. You choose where those files go and who they’re shared with.

What we don’t collect

CheqMate does not send your financial plan to our servers.

  • No personal identity profiles or user accounts.
  • No storage of your budgeting data on CheqMate servers.
  • No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking.
  • No third-party analytics SDKs embedded in the app.
  • No bank usernames or passwords; authentication flows through Plaid.
  • System crash/diagnostic sharing is controlled by your iOS settings, not by CheqMate.

Bank connections (Plaid)

Optional, privacy-aware bank sync.

  • Bank sync is optional and powered by Plaid.
  • When you connect a bank, authentication happens directly with Plaid. CheqMate never sees or stores your bank credentials.
  • Only the transaction data needed to support your plan is processed.
  • You can disconnect your bank accounts at any time from within CheqMate or via Plaid.
  • Plaid’s handling of your data is governed separately by their own privacy policy.

Your choices & control

You’re in charge of how and where your data is stored.

  • Back up or export: use in-app backup/export (JSON). Files are local; you decide how and where to store or share them.
  • iCloud sync: manage or delete CheqMate’s iCloud data in iOS Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Storage.
  • Delete data: deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
  • Notifications: manage alerts in iOS Settings ▸ Notifications, or within CheqMate’s in-app notification settings.

Notifications

Local, privacy-friendly reminders.

CheqMate uses local notifications to remind you about upcoming bills and pay periods. These are scheduled on your device with stable IDs and do not rely on remote push notification payloads or third-party services.

Website analytics

Anonymous, cookie-free analytics on cheqmateios.app.

Our marketing website (cheqmateios.app) uses privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics to understand aggregate page usage, such as which pages are visited and basic technical information (e.g., device type or browser).

  • No tracking cookies or advertising identifiers are used.
  • No personal information is collected or sold.
  • No cross-site tracking or profiling is performed.

The CheqMate app itself does not include any analytics SDKs.
